There’s a person behind the name.
I’m Florian Gendritzki. The Adventure Beyond is my personal journal of the things that draw me outdoors: unknown trails, striking weather, abandoned places and the small stories in between.
Sticking to a single subject wouldn’t feel right. One day I’m taking the Jeep off-road; another day I’m watching a storm front. Then I find myself standing in front of an old building, wondering what stories its walls could tell. What connects it all is curiosity – and the desire to stop and look, rather than simply drive past.
Through photos, videos and stories, I take you along. Not just to the destination, but on the journey too: the impressions, practical questions and moments that stay with you. That is what The Adventure Beyond is for.
The Jeep opens up a different perspective.
My Jeep Wrangler is a big part of it. For me, going off-road means getting to know both the trail and the vehicle: how does a section feel? What does it take to get through it? And what equipment actually helps along the way?
That’s why you’ll find stories about modifications, storage and equipment alongside the trips. From a roof rack to a cargo shelf, I’m mostly interested in practical value. I want to share experiences you can follow, rather than simply list specifications. That includes the things that prove awkward or fail to meet my needs.
Sometimes the sky sets the direction.
Thunderstorms, striking cloud formations and shifting light fascinate me. Stormchasing brings weather observation and photography together. A dark cloud edge can transform a familiar landscape in a matter of moments – those are the changes I want to watch and capture.
My reports share these trips and what I experienced on location. The storm front near Culemborg is one example: it isn’t just about a single image, but the atmosphere and the story behind it.
Abandoned places. Unanswered questions.
Abandoned places are the quieter side of my adventures. Old churches, bunkers and deserted buildings draw me in with their atmosphere and detail. A weathered wall, an empty room or an object left behind can demand more attention than a sweeping panorama.
I capture these impressions with my camera. I try to distinguish between what is actually visible and what a place merely suggests. Not every question has an answer. Sometimes that is exactly what makes a story interesting.
Winston is part of it all.
Not every story needs a spectacular setting. My bulldog Winston, a coffee outdoors, a quiet moment at camp or a trip with my son are just as much a part of The Adventure Beyond. These personal experiences turn a collection of outings into my story.
So there should be room for everyday life and humour among the travel, off-road and equipment stories. If you know Winston from my posts, you’ll know that even meeting a vacuum cleaner can become a story of its own.

The website, my films on YouTube and the short Field Dispatch updates complement each other. A longer report makes room for background. A video captures movement and atmosphere. A short update records a single moment. Together, they form a journal reflecting my different interests.
I hope to spark your curiosity: to see your surroundings differently, spend time outdoors and discover stories beyond the familiar routes. A trip doesn’t have to take you far away, and not every moment needs to be perfect.
