The Expedition Gear Cargo Shelf divides the Wrangler JLU's boot into two levels. Small bags go on top, bigger luggage beneath. First, I check whether my boxes fit under the shelf.

What does a second cargo level add?
Without a divider, small bags quickly disappear among the other luggage. A second level makes sorting easier, but leaves less height for bulky items.

Plan its position and access first
Before fitting it, I'd check my luggage: do the boxes fit beneath it, can I still reach the important bags, and is there enough space to load everything?
This version uses existing mounting points. Before buying, I check the part number, model year and installation instructions for my Jeep.

Using the MOLLE surfaces
Suitable mounts and bags can attach to the perforated structure. Check that the fittings match the system and hold the equipment securely.

The shelf's strengths and limits
- Advantage: A second level makes the boot easier to organise.
- Advantage: Frequently used equipment can have a fixed, easy-to-reach place.
- Limitation: The extra level reduces loading height and can make bulky luggage harder to reach.
- Important: The shelf and its mountings don't replace proper load securing. Check the instructions for the load limits of your exact set.

Useful if it fits your luggage
A cargo shelf can make small bags and accessories easier to find. Before buying one, though, I’d check whether I could manage with less loading height. I haven’t tested how much weight the shelf can take. Follow the manufacturer’s loading instructions.
